This is the sun setting on the isle of Foula, taken from near St Ninian’s in Shetland. I’m actually standing in Ireland but that might confuse casual viewers – we’re firmly in Shetland; Ireland being the nearest small village. Foula is the island visible between the large mass of St Ninian’s Isle on the left and the sun to the right.
The day had almost 100% cloud cover – just the tiniest gap for the sun to reach through for a few minutes. Well worth the continuing discomfort from the large number of midge bites on my head. You can enjoy the view from the comfort of your home.
